The Snake Skin Leopard Guppy is a colorful ornamental variety of the Guppy (Poecilia reticulata). It is popular in aquariums because of its complex body pattern and bright tail markings.
Body pattern: The body shows a snake-skin or chain-like pattern that looks like reptile scales.
Tail pattern: The tail usually has leopard-style black spots scattered across a bright background color.
Colors: Common colors include yellow, orange, red, blue, and green combined with black spots.
Fins: Males often have large fan-shaped or delta tails with vivid patterns.
Peaceful and active fish
Best kept in groups in community aquariums
Males display their fins and colors to attract females.
Tank size: 20 liters or more
Temperature: 22–28 °C
pH: 6.8–7.8
Diet: Flake food, micro-pellets, and live foods (like brine shrimp)
The name comes from the two patterns combined:
Snake skin pattern on the body (net or chain pattern)
Leopard spots on the tail fin
Because of this unique mix, it is considered one of the most attractive fancy guppy varieties in the aquarium hobby.
